VIDEO: Still Snowing on the Barrington

Filed in Recent News by June 19, 2018

IT has been snowing since 6:45 this morning at Tomalla adding another 7 or 8 centimetres of snow to the 15 centimetres which fell yesterday.

See video below.

Cath Payne, resident of Tomalla said while there is plenty of snow it may not last long with the rain and warns visitors to exercise extreme caution.

“The roads are very very slippery and the snow is really only right on top so drivers should exercise extreme caution, it is very wet all the way up,” said Ms Payne.

“At least there will be lots of water in the Hunter River shortly,” she said.

The National Parks have advised the gates of the Barrington Tops Forest Road, on the western side below the dingo gate were closed this morning due to ice on the road, but will soon reopen.

Access to the snow is strictly 4WD only and they advise to be prepared for rapidly changing extreme weather conditions in the area.

They further cautioned, that if people do become  stuck help may be several hours away and to ensure someone knows where you are travelling and when you will return.
