There was a good yarding of 1,180 head of cattle today with the majority being young cattle.

The young cattle were mainly weaners and store yearling cattle with very few fat cattle and export cattle yarded.

There were no heavy bullocks to quote on, cows were sold to a firm market with no change on last week.

The weaner trade market was 10 to 15 cents dearer across the board, weaner steers of angus and crossbreed sold to 15 cents dearer.

Heifers were 5 to 8 cents dearer, good trade yearling cattle were 15 cents dearer.

Feeder cattle were 10 to 15 cents dearer, yearling heifers were up to 20 cents dearer.

All trade markets were dearer than last week due to rainfall across the state and hopefully the export cattle will lift over the coming weeks.

Some upcoming events at Scone include the Hunter Valley angus breeders sale on Thursday 26th May with approximately 1500 females to be penned and on the 3rd of June we have the annual Palgrove Charolais bull sale with 50 bulls on offer.
