A new wild dog management plan has been developed for Merriwa and plans for Scone and Gundy will also be developed.

Richard Ali, senior biosecurity officer for Local Land Services said the Merriwa plan had been developed with government agencies, wild dog associations, producers and land managers and would now be rolled out in other areas.

“The Merriwa wild dog management plan is first of its kind for thee Hunter,” said Mr Ali.

“It’s a community driven plan that schedules the delivery off all control activities, actions and resources in a simple, direct document,” he said.

“We’re aiming to roll our similar plans in other parts of the Hunter, based on this model and encourage the community to provide input into the activities planned and the proposed approach to wild dog management,” Richard Ali said.

Landholders are invited to a community session at the Gundy Hall on Wednesday, November 16 to have their say on the plan.

Board members and staff will be on hand to speak with landholders and answer questions.
