Tax Help at the Neighbourhood Centre

IF you need tax help this year the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre has a volunteer to offer Tax Help starting in August.

Lee Watts, manager of the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre has been able to offer this service again.

“The Scone Neighbourhood Centre is able to offer tax help this year commencing in August. This is the first year for a number of years the service has had a volunteer to run tax help a free tax help program,” Lee Watts said.

“We welcome Joann, who will be available from the 16th August and every fortnight on a Tuesday to help you lodge your tax return or amendment online or claim a refund of franking credits.

“If you don’t need to lodge a tax return, Joann will be able help you complete a non-lodgement advice,” said Mrs Watts.

You are eligible for Tax Help in 2016–17 if your income is approximately $60,000 or less for the income year and you did not:
•work as a contractor, for example a contract cleaner or taxi driver
•run a business, including as a sole trader
•have partnership or trust matters
•sell shares or an investment property
•own a rental property
•have capital gains tax (CGT)
•receive royalties
•receive distributions from a trust, other than a managed fund
•receive foreign income, other than a foreign pension or annuity.
