Vaughan Amidy has retired from volunteering with TransCare after nine years of serving local people.

Helen Schlegel, transport coordinator for TransCare said Vaughan’s help will be missed.

“Vaughan has not only been a great asset to TransCare, but also the local community,” said Ms Schlegel.

“We will miss having him around and all the extra things he would do to ensure everything would run smoothly and that the bus was always in top shape,” she said.

“TransCare would like to take this opportunity to thank Vaughan for the wonderful effort he has put in throughout the years in serving the local community,” she said.

“TransCare was very lucky to have had Vaughan as part of the team and wish him all the very best for the future,” Helen Schlegel said.

Vaughan Amidy said TransCare were stuck for a bus driver and he was glad to help.

“I did three trips a day sometimes, nearly 600 kilometres a day, so over the period of years it kept us busy,” Mr Amidy said.

“We used to take the kids to TAFE, the middle run was for people to go and do some shopping and take people to work and bring them home,” he said.

“They’re a pretty good mob and I quite enjoyed it and there is a lot of extra things you can help with,” he said.

“I’ve retired once and I’ve retired again and I’ll find plenty of things to do,” Vaughan Amidy said.
