TODAY the list of the candidates in the federal election were released by the Australian Electoral Commission and ballots were held across the country to determine their position on the ballot paper.
The Upper Hunter Shire area is now part of the seat of New England and the eleven candidates running in the electorate in the order they will appear on the ballot paper are:
- WALKER, Robert Henry – Online Direct Democracy
- COLEFAX, Stan – Christian Democrats
- MAILLER, David – CountryMinded
- WHELAN, Peter – Liberal Democratic Party
- EWINGS, David – Australian Labor Party
- TABER, Rob – Independent
- WINDSOR, Tony – Independent
- JOYCE, Barnaby – National Party
- GOLDSTEIN, Mercurius – The Greens
- COX, Philip Gordon – Independent
Rob Oakshott has announced he is running for the seat of Cowper leaving some National Party people speculating ongoing collaboration between Tony Windsor and Rob Oakshott.
Dates to remember:
- The election will be held on Saturday, July 2;
- The cut off to enroll to vote was May 23;
- If you want to apply for a postal vote you need to register before June 29;
