Overview
  • The Aberdeen Fire Station is part of Fire and Rescue NSW.
  • The local firefighters provide fire and rescue services for the township of Aberdeen.
  • There are 14 retained fire fighters based out the station.
  • Annually they respond to approximately 150 to 180 calls for assistance. Approximately 40 of the calls are for the Aberdeen township and the remainder are call outs supporting crews in Scone and Muswellbrook.

Becoming a local firefighter
  • If you are interested in becoming a retained firefighter at your local fire brigade, register your interest with the station.
  • People who are over 18 years of age and are fit and well may qualify to become a retained firefighter.
  • Initial training and qualification is for 2 x 4 day weeks out of town.
  • Firefighters are recruited by the local station and return to the local station, unlike police or ambulance services.
  • The station must have a minimum of four retained firefighters on call within town at all times.
  • People employed out of town or on shift work can apply to be a local firefighter, but availability for rostering purposes has to be considered.
