Tractor Trek Begins

Filed in Recent News by April 28, 2019

TODAY 30 vintage tractors are rattling into action in Dungog ready to make the 600 kilometre trek over the Barrington and down through Aberdeen.

This year the pilgrimage will be missing one of the founding members of the Rattlin’ Bones and Engine Groans Machinery Society, Brian Morgan, who passed away from brain cancer in December, aged 48.

Brian’s older brother, Lionel Morgan, said Brian loved restoring old tractors and making treks at a snail’s pace.

“He’d rebuilt and old Chamberlain and looked forward to treks,” said Mr Morgan.

“My dad will be doing part of the trek and they’ll all be staying at dad’s place in Aberdeen on Thursday night,” said Lionel Morgan.

UPDATE: Lionel has advised they will be in Gundy Monday night then staying at Ian Morgan’s Tuesday night leaving for singleton Wednesday morning.

So, if you come across the tractors on their trek, take a cue from Brian, slow down and take in some scenery for a while and the members are always keen to talk tractors.

The tractors will have donation buckets in tow with money raised going to brain cancer with the Mark Hughes Foundation, which supported Brian and his family through brain cancer.

You can track their movements on the Facebook Page: Rattlin’ Bones & Engine Groans Machinery Society Inc.
