A stolen truck from Murrurundi in the early hours of the morning has been involved in a collision and fire in Singleton.

Reports suggest the truck was stolen from the BP service station on the edge of Murrurundi while the driver was paying for fuel, however the attendant could not confirm this to scone.com.au.

A spokesperson who opened the station at 5am said she was told of the event.

She said as far as she knew it happened before opening.

Police are tight-lipped saying the investigation is ongoing and only confirming the theft was from Murrurundi and the apprehension was at Singleton.

The driver is helping police with their enquiries.
