Unwanted Water Park

Filed in Recent News by April 5, 2016

SINCE Friday the sprinklers in Kater Park, Satur have been pumping 17 hours a day creating a swamp and Council have not responded to the many calls from residents to turn them off.

20160405Dawsonphoto1Mac Dawson said it was not an ideal situation considering how critical people are of Council’s water rates.

“With the increase in water prices from Council not a good image for them to be wasting water like they are,” said Mr Dawson.

“A lot of tenants and landlords have been complaining about water prices and for them not to respond to calls from residents to turn the sprinklers off it is less than ideal,” he said.

The water in the park is now five inches deep in places and residents describe an infestation of mosquitoes in the area.

Charlotte Boss said the stagnant water is starting to present issues.

“There are lots of mosquitoes in the park now and it is starting to smell,” said Ms Boss.

“Residents with children have said there are issues when the local children are waiting for the school bus and there is no way they could play in the park, in fact the water depth would be an issue for small children,” she said.

“We can’t understand why Council has not already acted,” Charlotte Boss said.

Update: Just minutes after publishing the Council turned off the sprinklers.
