Upper Hunter Cricket: Round 9 Results

A day of drama on Boyd wicket, in a game of cricket between  Merriwa and Bunnan. Extreme sunny heat finally dried up what had been a very soggy cricket square, the outfield was finally mowed low enough for the ball to flow across nicely. Merriwa won the toss and decided to bat, and quickly set about the Bunnan bowlers. Despite some glimpses of vintage  Glen Davis off cutters where he had 1 / 17 off 5 overs.

Then a fierce hit from the batsman was deflected off Davis’s wrist to hit him on the left ear  and immediately dropped him semi conscious to the ground. After recovering to a degree Davis spent most of the remaining overs off the ground, and did not bat in the Bunnan innings. G Sheehan went on to hit 6 sixes, 17 fours in an innings of 38 overs, that totaled 135. Even the kids watching from over the boundary weren’t safe from the power hitting, as one little boy got hit on the peak of his hat, bowling him over backwards where his Mum raced in to the rescue.
