Judy was one of the last original family settlers from Segenhoe and died on Friday at Strathearn Village, Scone.

Judith was born in Scone in 1928 and grew up on the property Lucerne at one end of Segenhoe before marrying Purvis “Roy” Flaherty in 1951 and moving to Jersey Park at the other end of Segenhoe.

Her daughter Louise “Susie” Matthews described her as a beautiful lady who was loved by everyone.

“She was elegant and I can remember as a kid she would get up and mow the lawn and doing gardens, but she’d always look like she’d just stepped off a movie set because her hair and makeup was done and there was never a time where she looked raggedy,” said Ms Matthews.

“Everything was done to perfection, the table had to be set properly, she could cater for 20 people out of nothing and she maintained the standards of yesteryear always,” she said.

“When I was a child at school we had to describe our mother and I said my mother was the Queen and she did look like a young Queen Elizabeth,” she said.

“But she also had a great sense of humour, she was always a fun Granny, she loved a beer before dinner, loved the football, followed the Knights and she reckoned she’d never been to a crook party yet,” laughed Susie.

Judy is survived by her three children and their partners Sam and Christine Flaherty, Louise ‘Suzie’ Matthews and Joy and Noel Black, six grandchildren and 3 ½ great grandchildren.
