Veterans Golf: August 23

Twenty-five Vets played a stroke with putting event at the beautifully manicured Aberdeen golf course on a cloudy Tuesday, August 23.

Rod Auld won the event on a count-back with nett 67 from Doug Dowell, third was Martin Byrne 71 and 4th Rod Upton 72 C/B.

In the ball comp balls went to Phil Ledgerwood 72, Brian Dever with his new knee and Jim Elder 73, Bob Lawman and Terry Mitchell 74, Graham Guest and Gary Gray 75 and Graham Huggins, Bob Minch, Peter Daunton and Graham Turvey 76.

Best Scratch Score: Rod Auld 80    Putting wine: (2L of port, kindly donated by Aberdeen Recreation Club) to Graham Huggins with 27 putts.

President Paul Gorman presented Mal Bruce with his “OBE” dress-shirt for representing the UHVGA in the over 80s Veterans’ Championships at Harrington, back in March this year.

Upcoming events:

  • On Tuesday, August 30 we play a stableford event at Murrurundi. Hit-offs 8.30 for 9am.
  • On Tuesday, September 6 we have a stableford event at Scone.
  • On Tuesday, September 13 we play for the Keith Bluford Shield (stableford) at Muswellbrook.

From September we revert to our regular starting time of 8am – 8.30.
