THE CHALLENGE ALIVE AND WELL

The bi-annual golfing challenge between the Upper Hunter Veteran Golfers and the Henbury Veteran Golfers from Kandos is alive and healthy.

Now in its third year, the challenge is going from strength to strength.

Initiated over a few drinks many years ago in Canberra, the Henbury captain Mr Barry Mason and the UHVGA captain Mr Max Holz, wanted to have a friendly game of golf on a regular basis. Hence this event was born.

It is now a quite hotly contested mixed individual stableford competition, where the best ten scores from each side over two rounds are tallied to obtain the winner to earn the naming rights on the prestigious trophy.

Round one for 2016 was played last Tuesday, February 23 at Muswellbrook with more than sixty golfers, ladies and gentlemen, taking to the very challenging, well presented Muswellbrook Golf Course.

Round two will be held at the long, undulating Henbury Golf Course next October.

The committee of the UHVGA appreciate the assistance of the staff of the Muswellbrook Golf Club in the club house and on the course as well as Jason Taylor and Beryl in the pro-shop who have all contributed to the outstanding success of the day.

We were treated to a delicious morning tea, thank you to those who supplied the goodies, before the fierce rivalry got underway with a shotgun start.
