VIDEO: Lorraine Gardiner Awarded

YESTERDAY Lorraine Gardiner was awarded Scone’s Hunter McLoughlin Memorial Citizen of the Year at the Australia Day ceremony. Watch the video describing her achievements and accepting the award and read her achievements below:

Lorraine Gardiner:

Lorraine has lived in the Upper Hunter since 1965, at Rouchel and more recently Scone. Her volunteering activities began with junior and senior cricket in Aberdeen and Rouchel with transport, catering and scoring. She was involved in the Aberdeen Public School P&C serving terms as President, Secretary, Vice-President and Canteen supervisor and supported classroom reading programs and school sport.

Lorraine was active in the Aberdeen Uniting Church and Aberdeen Branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA), establishing the Jan Wild and Lorraine Gardiner Citizenship Award at Aberdeen Public School in 2007 as a co-sponsor with Mrs Jan Wild. Her volunteer efforts continued at Scone High School P&C and the school canteen and the reading support program at Scone Public School. Lorraine has been a staunch member of the Scone and District CWA, awarded the Life Membership of the CWA in 2016 and made Branch Patron.

As a foundation member, secretary and treasurer of the Scone Breast Cancer Association, Lorraine has supported newly diagnosed women. She has been a lone term member of the NSW Rural Bush Fire Service with multiple leading roles. As a member of the Australia National Party, she has served as secretary of the Upper Hunter Electoral Council since 2013. Lorraine is also committed to the Youth off the Streets projects.

Lorraine always has given generously of her time, supporting many of the local organisations.
