TOMORROW night a candlelight vigil will be held at the Council building in Scone as part of a national event to commemorate the deaths of women from domestic violence.

Currently in Australia one woman each week is murdered at the hands of her partner and domestic violence is the leading cause of homelessness among women, with women 64 years of age and older being the largest growing group facing homelessness.

The community are invited to bring donations of non-perishable food to stock the pantries of the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre and Upper Hunter Homeless Support.

  • When: 5:15pm, Wednesday, April 29.
  • Where: Upper Hunter Shire Council Office, Crn Liverpool and Main Street, Scone.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call the domestic violence hotline on 1800 656 463.
