Aberdeen Highland Games Saturday July 2

Join the 6,000 people expected to travel from throughout Australia for the 17th Aberdeen Highland Games.

The festivities start on Friday, also International Tartan Day, with a golf day and a Ceilidah band at the Muswellbrook RSL Club.

On Saturday, the muster begins at 8am and the parade sets off at 9am at Harrison Oval, a fitting grand opening for a full day of Scottish events.

There is music, dancing, strong men, egg races, caber tosses, tug-of-war and other activities.

Of course there will be stalls selling specialised celtic and Scottish goods, including the infamous haggis.

Later that evening you can join in a Scottish gathering or Ceilidh at St Joseph’s High School hall.

St Joseph’s Merriwa P&F Junior Campdraft and Fete – Saturday July 2.

Come to the Merriwa showground and watch the junior campdraft competition and enjoy the stalls, food and activities of the parents and friends of St Joseph’s school fete.

The action starts at 8am and the campdrafting is a sanctioned event of the ABCRA (Australian Bushmans Camdrafting and Rodeo Association).
