  • More information: A comedy /drama starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant, rated PG. Florence Foster Jenkins is based on the true story of a notoriously talentless singer in 1940s Manhattan.  Meryl Streep stars as a delusional diva who dreams of playing Carnegie Hall. Hugh Grant plays her long-suffering but devoted husband.  Streep plays a New York socialite and eager patron of the arts, whose enthusiasm for a good tune is matched only by her inability to sing one: not that it stops her from trying.  The real Florence Foster Jenkins was one of those larger than life characters you just couldn’t make up.
