Zone, State and National Reps Ready

LAST weekend saw 21 Bunnan members represent the Hunter Valley at the NSW Polocrosse Zone Championships hosted by the Muswellbrook Club.

The Hunter Valley Junior girls’ team, which included Jillie Rose, Nicole Martin and Jorji Taffe, ran out winners with Jillie getting Best No. 1 and Nicole winning Champion Junior Australian Stock Horse on Main Camp Timor.

The Intermediate Mixed team, which included Bunnan members Abbey Wilson, Mitch Wamsley, Michael Hockings and Joe Wamsley, ran out runner up in the Championship grade.

Abbey was awarded Best No. 3 and Mitch took out Best No. 1 and Champion Intermediate Australian Stock Horse with Efficient.

Mitch and Efficient were also awarded Champion Intermediate Horse of the carnival.

Alane Moore and Ellie Barnett were in the Hunter Valley A grade women’s side and were only narrowly defeated by Central West in their final.

The championship men’s team, which included Brad Wamsley, came up against the South West Slopes in a very exciting final. After an excellent display ofhigh quality polocrosse Hunter Valley came out runner up.

After the presentation at Muswellbrook the NSW teams to play at the 2018 Perth Nationals in October were announced. Congratulations to the following Bunnan members who were selected to represent their state:

  • Sub Juniors – Emily Wamsley, Coach Brad Wamsley
  • Junior Girls – Jillian Rose
  • Junior Boys – Clancy Martin
  • Intermediate Women – Abbey Wilson
  • Intermediate Men – Joe and Mitch Wamsley
  • Intermediate Mixed – Michael Hockings
  • Masters Women – Kaylene Wilson

The excellent news does not stop there however.  We have had three young members selected in Australian teams to represent the country!

Clancy Martin has been selected in the number 2 Australian junior mixed side to play at Narrabri in the Junior Challenge competition on the July 14 and 15.

Abbey Wilson and Joe Wamsley have both been named in the number 1 Australian intermediate mixed team to play at Sydney on the last weekend in July.

Bunnan are gearing up for their home carnival, which will this year be the 2018 AGL NSW Club Championships over the long weekend in June. It will be held in Muswellbrook at the Rosebrook polocrosse grounds and there will be three full days of action packed polocrosse on display.
