ARCHA Pot of Gold Success

DESPITE harsh weather conditions, the Wideland Motor Group’s ARCHA Pot of Gold Event was a raging success.

Competition was fierce with Louise Nash taking out the open non pro reined cow event and Murray Wilkinson winning the open non pro snaffle bit cutting event.

Jay Gordon, ARCHA president, said he was impressed with the participants and volunteers who ‘stepped up and created a professional show’ in the freezing conditions.

“Everyone was really impressed with how well the show went, the competition was good and the competitors really brought their A-game, when it was time to ball, they balled,” said Mr Gordon.

“That was the biggest accomplishment, you know, when you put on a really good show, the competitors are going to show up and for me the biggest thing I’m proud of as president is that it didn’t matter what the weather did, people showed up and supported it,” he said.

“A lot of people that came out there were really impressed with the prize money being given away…the runs were fantastic, I mean you couldn’t ask for anything more from these guys especially given the circumstances with the weather,” said Mr Gordon.

The ARCHA committee is hoping to be invited back by the Council next year.

“It was a really positive experience and I hope the Pot of Gold is going to be indigenous to Scone in future,” said Mr Gordon.

“The only thing that hindered us was the uncooperative weather so next year we might aim for September instead of August, you know when it’s a little warmer,” he said.
