UPDATE: The boil water alert is now over for Murrurundi.

THE Upper Hunter Shire Council have advised residents in Aberdeen, Murrurundi and Scone to boil water for drinking and food preparation, after heavy rainfall caused poor raw water quality in the Glenbawn Dam catchment.

Council said they are working to fix the problem and will notify residents when the water quality risk has returned to normal.

The boil water alert will remain in place until further notice.
