Cama Pled Guilty to Vicious Assault

Ilipsa Cama appeared in Wyong Local Court yesterday and pled guilty to a charge of inflict grievous bodily harm, following an attack on Ryan Holman during a football game, on May 19.

Mr Cama alleged that he was punched in the side of the head by Mr Holman after a tackle and retaliated by punching Mr Holman in the side of the face.

Mr Cama, a Fijian national, also alleges Mr Holman made a racist slur, calling him a “black dog” after which Mr Cama punched him several more times until he was knocked unconscious.

The matter was adjourned for sentencing on August 19 in Muswellbrook Local Court.

Mr Cama was given a 13 week suspension from football and may now face gaol time for the assault.

Pleading guilty at the first available opportunity entitles Mr Cama to a reduction in sentence, an opportunity extended to everyone who comes before the court. An initial plea of guilty means the court does not need to go to a lengthy hearing on the matter to prove if the offence occurred.
