IT was both exciting and historic to be playing our first ladies and men’s competition games on the brand new Scone Golf Course this week. The standard of Scone’s newest asset to the town is of the highest order with beautifully manicured fairways, greens and bunkers, receiving huge accolades from all who have ventured out to give it a try.

With complimentary access to the golf course for the first week, it has been very pleasing to see so many local and visiting golfers on the course which we hope will continue going forward. Green fees will be in place from this Monday 03 June, payable at the ticket machine located on the way to the 1st and 10th tee boxes. The schedule of fees is clearly outlined at the ticket machine and you will need to carry your ticket receipt as proof of payment. Please remember – no pay, no play!

The lady members started the week with a social nine hole round on Tuesday to dust the cobwebs of their clubs with lots of shots to compare and dissect over a morning coffee afterwards.  Our nine hole winner was Vonnie Palmer with a creditable score of 17pts. The Ladie’s Thursday Comp was for the Judy Carmody and Narelle Rutter 18 hole  Two Ball and Individual Stableford. The Two Ball Stableford winners were Wendy Clift and Jodie Hinde with great team score of 45pts, followed by Dordie Bragg and Julie Leckie with 39pts. The individual winner was Jodie Hinde with 35pts which was a great effort given it was her first game on the new course. Ball winners were Dordie Bragg 32pts, Julie Leckie 30pts and Jo Brown 29pts.

The first Saturday Competition on 01 June was for the Julie and Noel Leckie 18 Hole Stableford  Trophy across the field.  First prize went to Clayton Rogers with 40pts, second prize to Tony O’Neill with 38pts and third prize to Will O’Donnell with 37pts.   Ball winners included Jodie Hinde 36pts, Jeffrey Harrington 36pts, Justin Smart 35pts, Annie Woods 34pts and Gordon Halliday 34pts.
