Don’t Flush Flushable Wipes

Filed in Just In by March 2, 2020

COUNCIL are urging residents to “think twice before flushing the toilet ensuring only the three P’s (pee, poo and paper) are going down the toilet,” and stop flushing “flushable” wipes.

While flushable wipes do flush down toilets, they are clogging the local sewer mains and pump stations and can cause your pipes at home to back up.

In recent weeks Council staff have attended to a number of blockages from the wipes, creating an expensive and environmentally problematic exercise.

Cleaning wipes, hygiene products and baby wipes should be disposed of in the garbage.
