Fishing

Fishing is a popular camping activity in the Upper Hunter. Lake Glenbawn in known as one of the best freshwater fishing spots in NSW with Bass, Silver and Gold Perch, and Murray Cod.

Visitors wanting to fish need to obtain a NSW Fishing Licence. Three day ($7), 1 month ($14), 1 year ($35) and 3 year ($85) passes are available online at http://www.licence.nsw.gov.au/New/.

Fishing licences can also be bought from Scone Sports and Scone Camera Centre, both located on Kelly Street, and Satur Takeaway at 801 Satur Rd, Scone.

Hunting

Visitors and locals wanting to hunt game and feral animals on public land in the Upper Hunter need to apply for a Restricted licence. Hunters who hold a NSW restricted game hunting licence are eligible to apply for written permission to hunt on public land, including Barrington Tops State Forest, Stewarts Brook State Forest and Chichester State Forest.
