Filed in Just In by March 26, 2020

THERE were another 190 positive coronavirus cases confirmed in the last 24 hours making a total of 1,219 cases in New South Wales.

There are 16 people in intensive care and there have been seven deaths.

The Premier said if the numbers continue to climb more measures will be put in place to reduce the infection rate, explaining they were monitoring data from 7 to 14 days after new measures, to gauge the impact.

Key information from the Premier this morning included:

  • passengers will not be released from boats until new protocols in place;
  • police can issue on the spot fines for people not observing isolation and social distancing;
  • testing parameters have been broadened, NSW was already testing health workers and aged care, but will add boarding schools, detention centres and correctional facilities, and
  • Service NSW is hiring 1,000.
