Premier’s Update – Friday

THE Premier has again flagged, further measures may be taken to limit the spread of pandemic and implored people not to leave their homes unless they “absolutely have to.”

Premier Gladys Berejiklian, pled to senior and vulnerable people “please don’t leave your home.”

She further called for calm, assuring residents that they will always have access to supermarkets, pharmacies and key essential services if further measures are taken, “there is no need to panic about accessing things you need, no need to panic if you feel alone by yourself at home and you can’t leave the home, don’t worry” phone 13 77 88.

There are now 1,405 cases confirmed in New South Wales, of which 877 were overseas acquired, 278 are locally acquired from a confirmed case and 145 are locally acquired with no known contact. 

There are 134 people receiving medical care, 62 are receiving care in the home, 19 are in Intensive Care and 53 are on hospital wards.

The key figure being monitored by the government, to assess if further measures are needed, is the amount of community transmission which are not linked to a known case.
