Scone Golf Report: June 18-20

ON THURSDAY June 18, at Scone Golf Course the ladies played the second Monthly Medal and Golf NSW Medal Round.

Windy conditions made play challenging but as usual, the course was a delight to play on.

The winner of the Melanie’s Jewellers prize was Lyn banks who had 74 nett to beat Julie Leckie on a countback.

Balls went to both these players and Annie Woods on a countback from Jodie Hinde.

Lyn also took home the Wine O’Clock prize, kindly provided by Julie Leckie, for the least putts. 

Next Thursday June 25, the ladies will play an 18 hole Stableford sponsored by Sophistacut.

A good number of experienced and less experienced golfers enjoyed 9 holes on Tuesday and this continues each week at 9am.

The Thursday Medley Stableford had seven men play.

The best score was by Mick Reynolds who had 38 points.

On Saturday June 20 an excellent field of 57 players comprising 54 men and 3 ladies, headed out for a game.

After a cool start the weather warmed up to present a perfect winter’s day for the playing of golf.

All the golfers are very impressed with the course, especially the excellent greens which are running fast and true.

Many thanks to Angus the greenkeeper, and to his assistant Col, for their tireless efforts to present the course in the best possible condition. 

The event was an 18 Hole Stableford with the prizes generously donated by Gary Taylor, Geoff Barton and Robert Ryan.

The A Grade winner was Wes Boyd who had a great round of one under par off the stick to record 43 points.

The B Grade winner was Paul Smart with 38 points and the C Grade winner was Scott McNeil with 37 points.

It was also Round 1 of the President’s Trophy with the final round to be played on Saturday July 4.

All the first round matches in the Kevans Knockout have been completed.

The draw has been updated on the Scone Golf Club website. Round 2 must be completed by Saturday July 11 but it is beneficial if matches can be played as early as possible.

Next Saturday June 27 the event will be an 18 Hole Stableford sponsored by Charlie & Baz Wintle.

On Sunday the District A Grade pennants will resume with 2 rounds to be played after being postponed due COVID-19 on March 20.

The final round will be at Cypress Lakes on Sunday July 12 where the team will play against Muswellbrook.

The first Championships of the year, the Isis Motel FBBB Championships, will be played in A, B & C grades over 36 holes of four ball best ball stroke play consisting of two rounds of 18 holes on Saturday July 11 and Saturday July 25.

Players are asked to nominate their team by calling Ross Banks 0488 591 237 this will allow the committee to see how many teams intend to play.

If you do not have a partner but want to play, please contact Ross Banks and the committee will try to find you a partner.
