SCONE golfers played an 18 Hole Individual and 2B Stableford sponsored by Brad Hockley on Saturday November 16. Improved golfing conditions with less vigorous wind, allowed the scores to be good with 37 points being required to win a ball. The winners of the 2 Ball were David O’Donnell and Daryl Dutton who combined well for 46 points. They finished one point ahead of three other pairs, Jeff Harrington and Tony O’Neill, Matthew Langan and Col Solway, and Neil Clydsdale and Gary Adams. The individual winner was Red Palmer who had 41 points. It was pleasing to welcome three visitors who enjoyed the course.

The NTP’s were won by David O’Donnell on the 4th /13th at 2.38 metres and by visitor Gary Adams on the 8th /17th at 3.46 metres. Ball winners were: Jeff Harrington 39, George Campbell, Justin Smart 38, Charlie Manning, Russell Nicholls, Alan Wood, Neil Clydsdale and Scott Reid all on 37 points. In the ladies stableford visitor Chanel Hill had the best score of 33 points.

On Saturday, November 23, the event will be an 18 Hole Stableford for the James Archibald Trophy. It will also be the concluding round of the Scone Isis Motel FBBB Championships which is closely contested in each grade. David O’Donnell and Mac Dawson, and Jeff Harrington and Steve Morse are equal leaders in A Grade. Troy Collison and David Adams have a 3 shot buffer to John Roe and Charlie Manning, and Tony O’Neill and Alan Wood in B Grade. In C Grade George Davidson and Harry Mitchell are 1 shot ahead of Kevin and Tom Thompson, and George Campbell and Daryl Dutton.

The Scone lady golfers will commence their summer 9 hole season on Thursday November 21, with players heading out at 8am.

All golfers, members and non-members, are invited to play in the 9 hole social Wednesday golf competition.  Play is from the yellow tees which will provide a different view for regular golfers and an easier course for beginners. Handicaps are provided by the organisers so just register at the bar at Scone Sporties to get involved.  Generous prizes are on offer from the Scone Sporties Club.
