On Saturday, November 9 at Scone Golf Course a good field played an 18 Hole Stableford for the Field Family Trophies. Windy conditions in the afternoon made play more difficult for those completing rounds then. The morning players generally recorded the better scores.

Troy Collison had the best score of the day with a fabulous 44 points to win B Grade. Daniel Malone won C Grade with 42 points which was boosted by a wind assisted eagle on the Par 5 11th hole. Steve Morse was the best in A Grade having 37 points. The NTP’s went to John Roe on the 4th /13th and to George Campbell on the 8th /17th.

The day was also Round 1 of the Isis Motel FBBB Championships contested in 3 grades. After the first round the leading pairs in each grade are very close. In A Grade David O’Donnell and Mac Dawson are level with Jeff Harrington and Steve Morse when both pairs had 76. Troy Collison and David Adams on 79, have a 3 shot lead from 2 pairs, John Roe and Charlie Manning, and Tony O’Neill and Alan Wood in B Grade. George Davidson and Harry Mitchell lead by 1 after a round of 87 to Kevin and Tom Thompson, and George Campbell and Darryl Dutton in C Grade. Round 2 will be played on Saturday November 23.

Good scores were required to win a ball with the following players doing so: Josh Whale 41, Geoff Barton, George Davidson 39, Tom Thompson 38, Neil Clydsdale 37, Charlie Wintle, Brad Baker, Kevin Thompson, Col Solway 36 and the last ball on a count back to David Druce on 35 points.
On Saturday November 16 the event will be an 18 Hole Individual and 2B Stableford sponsored by Brad Hockley.

In ladies golf a small field tested the course from the shorter yellow tees on Thursday November 7. Narelle Rutter had the best score of 38 points to win the Sarah Howey Trophy. Judy Carmody had a good day also with the second best score of 33 points and the NTP on the 8th.

On Thursday, November 14 the ladies will play an 18 Hole Stableford for a club trophy. This will be the last game of the 18 hole season and on future Thursday’s 9 hole rounds will be played early as the conditions heat up. Play in the Saturday competition will be on offer for 18 hole events.

The return of the popular summer 9 hole social Wednesday golf competition is set for Wednesday November 13. It will be played from the yellow tees ensuring an easier round for everyone on the shortest layout available on the course. All golfers are welcome, members or non-members, with the organisers allocating handicaps to non- handicapped players. Players need to register in the Sporties Club, collect a 9 hole summer comp card there, and then make payment at the ticket machine on the way to the first tee. Generous prizes are on offer from the Scone Sporties Club.

In touring golf, Ross Banks performed well last week finishing 3rd in the NSW Veteran’s Match Play Championship held at four courses in Newcastle. In non- handicapped matches Ross won his first two games and then went down to the eventual winner, before winning his last game.
