THURSDAY golf was played in sunny but breezy conditions for the Hunter Belle Cheese 18 Hole Stableford with a good number of ladies turning up for the chance to claim prize winning vouchers  to the fabulous Hunter Belle Cheese Café. A huge thank you to Hunter Belle Cheese for sponsoring this event. The day was won by Julie Leckie with a good round of 37pts, narrowly beating Cheryl Clydsdale with 36pts. Ball winners were Jo Brown 35 pts, Dordie Bragg 34pts and Jodie Hinde 31pts. At last the Nearest The Pin on the 8th went off, going to Julie Leckie.

A little further from home south of the border, Lyn and Ross Banks have been battling 70km wind gusts along with a bit of rain while touring the golf courses of South  Australia soon to head to Victoria. However we are happy to report that Lyn has performed extremely well to be placed 4th in the 2019 South Australian Senior Amateur Championship played at Naracoorte Golf Club. Great job Lyn!

A couple of Scone teams competed last Wednesday in the Muswellbrook Ladies Volkswagen Scramble which is always a hotly contested event. Eleven teams competed with Jodie Hinde, Kerry McLennan, Sharon Constable (Maitland) & Royalie Sciani (Maitland) being placed second scoring some great Volkswagen Scramble merchandise  (sadly not a car!!). Dordie Bragg, Julie Leckie, Annie Woods and Judy Carmody had a fun day bringing home 6th place. Annie Woods was delighted to win the Nearest the Pin across the field.

Next Thursday there has been a change to the golf programme and we will be now playing for the Wendy Clift Trophy Three Ball Par Event, replacing the Scone vs Muswellbrook Interclub Challenge which has been rescheduled to Thu 26 September.

Saturday marked the A. E. Shaddock memorial day at the Scone Golf Club and the men played an Individual and 2 ball Stableford event for the Charlie Manning and Noel Kelly Trophy. Great conditions for golf meant low scores and golfers had to play to their handicap even to win a ball. The 2 Ball event was hard fought, with Gordon Halliday and Charlie Wintle winning by a single point over Matt and Jim Hobbs. Nearest the pin prizes went to Rod Vaughan and Steve Morse and balls were won by Tony Pringle, Matt Hobbs, David Bradshaw, Duncan Yuille, Kevin Thompson, Jim Hobbs, Scott Reid, Scott Shann, Jim Elder and Col Solway.

Next Saturday we play an 18 hole Stableford event for the Clayton Rogers Trophy. The business end of the Kevan’s Knockout is approaching with the round of 16 well under way and Club Championship events are upon us. Members can enter Foursomes Championships on the 22nd and 29th of September and  should be aware that the Men’s Club Championships will be played over four rounds on two weekends 19/20 October and 26/27 October.
