POLICE have confirmed a decomposed body was found on Gundy Road yesterday, just outside of Scone.

The skeletal remains were found at 9am yesterday by a dog walker, who proceeded to contacted police.

Matt Zimmer, Crime Manager Detective Inspector for the Hunter Valley Local Area Command said it is likely the remains belong to an adult.

“It’s difficult to tell, but there’s no indication it’s a baby, we believe it’s an adult,” Detective Zimmer said.

Police can’t confirm if the remains have been left in situ, or whether they have washed down the Mountain due to the recent heavy rainfall.

They hope to identify the deceased over the coming days, after completing a post-mortem examination.
