Snow Lovers Turned Away

POLICE and National Parks are reportedly finding it difficult to close roads over the Barrington due to the number of vehicles in the area.

Neil Bailey, owner of the Victoria Hotel in Moonan Flat said the conditions in the area very icy and dangerous.

“Police have been trying to close the roads, but there are already so many people in there coming out or trying to get across the other side,” said Mr Bailey.

“I have just heard they might have managed to close this side and there are a few police vehicles up here, one is a two-wheel-drive, so that might not even get up there at the moment either,” he said.

“The roads are very, very slippery and very icey,” he said.

“If you haven’t got a 4WD don’t come!” he warned.

“There have been quite a few dingles, but no major accidents, but if you have a two-wheel-drive don’t even try going up,” he said.

“They have had about four or five inches of snow at Pol Blue, it was still snowing up there earlier and I reckon there will be more overnight, ” he said.

“You can see the snow on the mountains from Moonan,” Neil Bailey said.
