BRAD Hazard, NSW Minister for Health confirmed a 58 year old woman has died in Tamworth Hospital from Covid-19, with the source of her infection still being investigated.

The woman was one of two patients to die in New South Wales in the last 24 hours, the other was an 83 year old man from Queensland who had contracted the disease on a cruise in South America.

A total of 42 percent of the cases of covid-19 are in people under the age of 40, with 20-29 year olds being particularly prevalent.

The Minister stressed the importance of people social distancing, especially young people who are also at risk of the disease.

“For those of you who think you can’t get Covid-19 because you are younger, well the answer is you absolutely can,” said Minister Hazard.

“You might avoid the 1.5 metres, but you won’t avoid the ICU,” warned Minister Brad Hazard.
