Towarri Fire Finishing

Filed in Recent News by May 28, 2018

THE hazard reduction burn which began yesterday in the Towarri National Park is due to conclude this afternoon at 5pm, with smoke expected to linger in the area for a few days.

Mark Denton, operations officer for Liverpool Range Fire Service said the fire was well controlled by the National Parks fire crew.

“There was a helicopter used this morning which was conducting aerial incendiaries to get to areas which are too dangerous for ground crew,” said Mr Denton.

“There are also 15 fire fighters on the ground which have lit up the containment lines,” he said.

“The Scone national parks office is in control of it and they are using national parks fire ground crews which are experienced with national park burns,” Mark Denton said.
