Filed in Recent News by December 4, 2019

THE Rural Fire Service has described last night’s fire activity with the Meads Creek fire as “very benign”.

Crews were back-burning around the Ringwood Road area, but by midnight it had became too damp and cold to continue.

Update 3pm: Spot fires have occurred this afternoon on the western side of the Meads Creek fire in the Ringwood Road area, crossing the western side of the trail. Aircraft water bombing is in operation.

Today the back-burning will continue with extra resources from out of area assisting.

The RFS have described the weather forecast of warm and breezy for today as “very testing”.

There are westerly winds predicted until 5pm, then shifting slightly to the west-north-west, with an average speed of 25km per hour and gusts of up to 45km per hour.

The weather for the rest of the week will be challenging for fire crews, with warm conditions, low humidity and moderate winds causing concern.
