Water Restrictions Stepping Up

Filed in Just In by February 25, 2020

LAST night the Council voted to move to level 2 water restrictions on March 1 for Scone and Aberdeen.

Despite recent rain, Glenbawn Dam is at 40 percent capacity and level 2 restrictions will also occur in Muswellbrook and Singleton.

Murrurundi residents have been on level 6 restrictions since mid-2018 and when the pipeline to Murrurundi is operational, there will be level 2 restrictions.

Merriwa and Cassilis will remain at level 1 restrictions, since the local ground water bores have continued to cope well with the current drought conditions.

The new restrictions include:

  • When watering lawns and gardens, an odds and evens system will apply;
  • Water between 6am-9am and 6pm-9pm during daylight savings, and 7am-10am and 4pm-7pm rest of year;
  • Washing of hard surfaces, walls and windows with a hose is banned. You must spot clean with a bucket and hand-held trigger nozzle or high pressure cleaner only, and
  • You can top up an existing pool or spa or fill a new pool or spa between 7am-9am and 6pm-8pm.
